The Christian Church - Synod of Saint Timothy

The Synod of Saint Timothy is a body of faithful Christians, seeking to minister to the world through the Sacramental life and fraternal love that was evident in the ancient Church, while always putting the saving grace of Christ's atoning sacrifice first in our minds. The Beginning of Lent :
Ash Monday (eastern rites) or Ash Wednesday (western rites)
[19 or 21 February 2007]

Regarding the beginning of Lent, the liturgical season that is uniquely dedicated to repentance, conversion, and spiritual renewal, those who celebrate according to the eastern rites may insert the appropriate portions of this proper either into Ramsho ("first vespers") for Ash Monday or into the Divine Liturgy during the day. Those who celebrate according to the western rites will utilize this proper in the daily Office, in a liturgy of the word, or in the daily eucharist.

Prayer:
Merciful Father, your Spirit awakens deep within our souls the awareness of our sinfulness and of our need of your healing mercy. Your Son Jesus taught that you forgive the sins of those who approach you with humble and contrite hearts. May your Spirit stir our hearts to repentance, conversion, and renewal and lead us from ashes to Pascha (Easter) unto the forgiveness of sins and eternal life. We ask this through your Son, our Lord Christ Jesus, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

1 Lent: "The Temptation of Jesus"
[25 February 2007]

Prayer:
